The Jordan Cove LNG project will create hundreds of permanent, real jobs for local workers from skilled trades to administrative and professional jobs.
These will be good paying jobs with benefits that can support families and give graduating students real opportunities.
Jordan Cove will partner with Southwest Oregon Community College (SOCC) to create an LNG Fire Training Center – a first on the West Coast. There is only one other program like it, in Texas. Expanded use of LNG as a maritime and surface transportation fuel will increase the need for special LNG training. SOCC and Coos Bay will be poised to be the West Coast center for this specialized training.
Permanent employment at the Jordan Cove terminal and the Pacific Connector Pipeline will include 175 direct jobs, 50 indirect jobs paid by Jordan Cove (Sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, tugboat crews and emergency planners), over 500 indirect and induced jobs for a total of over 700 total family-wage jobs in southern Oregon.

The Jordan Cove LNG project will also boost our local economy, leading to increases in retail, service, and hospitality jobs throughout southern Oregon. For example, as Jordan Cove generates more foot traffic for the Pancake Mill – the additional cooks/wait staff hired by the Pancake Mill to meet this new (and long term demand) means more work for locals in the area. The same would be true for hotels, appliance retailers, convenience stores, realtors, etc.
